Common Symptoms for Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Having exposure to one or more traumatic events that threatened or caused grave physical harm. This stresser may involve someone's actual death, a threat to the
patient's or someone else's life, serious physical injury, an unwanted
sexual act, or a threat to physical or psychological integrity.
Flashbacks and
nightmares,
Avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma,
Increased
arousal such as difficulty falling or staying asleep,
Anger and
hypervigilance.
The symptoms last more than six months
and cause significant impairment in social, occupational, or other
important areas of functioning (e.g. problems with work and
relationships.)
These and Other Symptoms Are a Continuum of Brain Stresses and Disorders
Every
day problems and symptoms encompassed in this list
are aspects of a continuum of symptoms that affect a large portion of
the population to one degree or another.
Questions about BIT
Do you have to do the whole integration at once?
Depending on the individual and the reason for treatment, BIT will take different amounts of sessions to complete. BIT can be
done all at once (over 2.5 days), or spread out over a longer
period of time. For small children who have trouble being still, we
recommend breaking the appointments up by scheduling one hour on, one
hour off, etc. For extremely small children and infants, we recommend
half-hour appointments, with a break in-between.
Is the integration permanent? Yes, the brain's electromagnetic pathways that have opened will remain open. Only if there has been an extreme illness or accident the Integration will need to be rechecked.
What happens during the treatment?
The
first session of treatment includes an initial assessment that serves
as a benchmark against which to evaluate future change. During this
session, I assess the electro-magnetic activity in the brain using
muscle monitoring and acupressure. I do not use any machines or
electrical equipment in my practice to evaluate or treat my patients.
Rather, I use muscle monitoring. This technique reveals the specific
brain areas that need the most attention. At the end of the assessment
we can tell the client the probable length of treatment required in her
individual case. This assessment is approximately 30 minutes long. I like to have an hour or one and a half hours of treatment time right after the assessment.
Subsequent sessions involve correcting the specific brain areas that
showed in the assessment. The correction technique involves very light
touch on specific acupressure points to re-establish electro-magnetic
integrity within the brain. Brain function is improved specifically in
learning ability, creativity, and physical co-ordination. This is done
by pinpointing stress in the brain that is affecting learning, and
relieving these individual stress patterns.
The client will also come in for a 6-8 week post-integration follow-up
unless they are coming from out of state. This session usually lasts an
hour.
How do I prepare for a treatment?
Make sure to be hydrated. Drinking several glasses of water the day before and a few before the session helps greatly.
How do I schedule BIT treatment?
Please call Alex Lovejoy at 303-808-6075, to
schedule a series of treatments. These sessions can be divided over
several weeks, or, for out-of-town patients, finished over the course
of 2-3 days.
Alex Lovejoy's office is conveniently located in Boulder, Colorado.
